Born in the Bay Area, Daniella ”Dani” Yorah Cartun is the daughter of Rabbi Ari Cartun and lawyer Joyce Cartun. She was raised in a community that valued multi-faith cooperation in the blossoming Silicon Valley backdrop of t. Her view of the world is one of inclusion and harmony. Her art and life, whether, painting, costume design or songwriting aims to address the worlds through that lens. Asking questions to engage critical thinking.
She began singing as a child training for 15 years in Classical, Jazz, Musical Theater and Rock. She attended Berklee Summer Seminar in high school and studied voice at Lawrence Conservatory of Music while getting her BA in Theater and Art History at the University. This is also when she began designing costumes and was the Costume Shop Supervisor in her Senior year. This immersion culminated in her senior project of Cabaret where she chose to Produce, Star (Sally Bowles), Costume Design, and custom make the costumes.
After college, in an aim to master another area of art, she began to study for her MFA in costume design at UCLA School of Theater Film and Television all while still pursuing and performing music.
She was briefly one of the leads singers of the Antenna The End and now writes and releases her own music. Her EP ‘So What Now….?’ is available on all streaming platforms. Although that is just Phase 1. She is planning for her second release now and should have more performance dates coming soon. Stay up to date in the Music Section.
Since graduating from UCLA with her MFA in Costume Design, she has been working steadily in the TV/Film Industry as a Designer and Patternmaker/Seamstress. A visual cross section of her work can be found in the Costume Design section of this website. Recently designed the newest Jean Claude Van Damme feature to be released summer of 2023.
